New £1bn Public Sector Decarbonisation Grant Scheme

In the current climate, you may find it difficult to obtain extra funding, but we have some good news. The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has launched the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme which will provide £1bn of grant funding. The Decarbonisation Scheme

The scheme aims to promote green investment to support the Government’s net zero and clean growth goals. This funding can help enhance your school’s energy efficiencies and reach new levels of innovation for green growth.

The purpose of the grant scheme is to provide financial support to eligible Public Sector Bodies to install energy efficient and low carbon equipment, for example new systems or upgrades to lighting, insulation, glazing, heating, cooling, hand dryers, industrial kitchen equipment, ventilation, renewable energy systems.

This can support your school to improve efficiencies, whilst also supporting the Government’s clean growth goals. You can apply for up to 100% of capital energy saving project costs.

The Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Fund

The fund is available to provide a grant for you to procure expert advice assisting you to identify and develop energy efficiency and low carbon heat upgrade projects in preparation for your application for the decarbonisation scheme.

Who can Apply?

The scheme is open to all maintained schools, academies, multi-academy trusts, free schools, Higher or Further Education Institutions as well as nursery schools maintained by a local authority in England.

Project Criteria
  1. The projects must take place in buildings where your establishment pays the energy bills.
  2. The project must result in direct financial or carbon savings for your establishment.
  3. This must be a new project
