SAAF's cycle challenge for A Dollar for Dawson campaign was a success!

Date published: Date modified: 2022-12-09

After a non-stop 24-hours, our team managed to cycle the distance between Land’s End and John O’Groats, that’s 603 miles as the crow flies to raise money from A Dollar For Dawson!

This challenge was set to raise vital funds to support 20-month-old Dawson Wilcock’s fight against cancer. Dawson, who lives with his family in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, has a rare form of cancer called Hepatoblastoma. Having already tried different types of chemotherapy, his family is hoping to raise enough money to take Dawson to Cincinnati, USA, for treatment that isn’t available in the UK.

After a fun night of cycling, fifteen of our staff members managed to work through the pain and fatigue, trading off places on our exercises bikes every half an hour until we reached our goal.

Andi Brown and Su Johal, SAAF Directors commented: “We are immensely proud of our team, they worked very hard to raise funds and contribute to the cycling on the day.”

Thanks to the help of our customers, business partners, family and friends, we managed to exceed our target. Now that our Just Giving page has closed, we are proud to announce that we have raised a total of £1,104 and SAAF will be rounding this up to £2,000.

Thank you again to all who donated, Total Gym Solutions for supplying the exercise bikes, and all of the members of the SAAF team who took part and made this charity challenge a success.
